we need to talk

Dear Reader:

I'm cranky these days, I know. It's the fabled low point in the adjustment curve, although, so far as I can tell, it's about the separation from my support systems, and has little to do with being in another culture. It will pass.

But, you, dear Reader! According to Google Analytics, it appears that many of you have been doing things other than reading my blog. Maybe you have "families" or "jobs" or whatever, but my real concern is that your priorities are completely out of alignment. You should be paying attention to me. It's for your own good, really.

You've never been a problem Reader before, so I understand this will be a one-time thing. I'm glad we had this little chat. I look forward to seeing your improved readership in the future!

Love,
Chris

  1. I think separation from support systems is a big part of being in another culture; the other part is nobody listens to you and you can't understand things and it's hard to buy a shoehorn (the kind with teeth). *hug*

  2. Sounds like you need some love! Here's a hug from me, too, to help you get through this period :)

  3. I read on the internet that if you want more engaged blog readers (which apparently leads directly to VAST PROFITS), you need to improve your social media strategy.

  4. I'd read your blog, but my head hurts from "Ella no entiende mucho" multiple times a day. Apparently, I need to work on my "Chilenismos that come from nowhere and can be used nowhere else." Ha! :)

  5. Yeah, the house grandmother here will rattle off a couple long sentences in Spanish at lightspeed and immediately say, "Ah, no entendi nada" before I have a chance to process what she said. She's cutting back on that now that she's been surprised several times by my displaying some understanding right after she told me I didn't understand anything.

Tonight at once I said, "Well, often I understand stuff, but I don't say anything. Then again, sometimes I don't understand, and I don't say anything then, either."
